Safe & Sound: A Guide to Taylor Swift Concert Safety

Will you be having The Best Day of your life at the Eras tour this summer?

Taylor Swift is kicking off the UK leg in June with 8 shows at Wembley Stadium in London, before heading to Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff.

With all stadiums and dates completely sold out, this record-breaking tour is sure to be a highlight for many!

Stay safe in Style with our ultimate guide to Taylor Swift concert safety:

Stay Hydrated Throughout The Eras Tour

The first rule of Taylor Swift concert safety is to stay hydrated.

The tragic death of Brazilian fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado last year, due to an unprecedented heatwave during one of Swift’s concerts, brought home the reality of how dangerous dehydration can really be.

Many consider it highly unethical but, unfortunately, most concert venues prohibit you from bringing your own water inside. That’s why it’s essential that your first course of action, once in the venue, is to stock up on water to have with you throughout the show.

Ensure Your Phone Has Enough Charge

The second rule of Taylor Swift concert safety is to fully charge your phone beforehand.

There are the obvious reasons, of course: capturing the realisation of your Wildest Dreams on camera and accessing your digital tickets to get into the venue.

However, it’s also important to keep your phone charged to ensure you can contact your friends and family if you get split up or need help.

Our personal safety app imabi Guardian is useful to have downloaded on your phone for the concert, thanks to its geo-location features.

Using ‘Rescue Me’, you can alert your trusted contacts if you’re lost or in need of assistance; meanwhile, ‘Near Me’ can help you navigate to various designated support locations. You can even create a bespoke ‘Sharing Group’ in the app just for your concert crew.

A PSA for parents: rather than thinking Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve when you can’t get hold of your teen, have them memorise your mobile number or - even better - write it down to keep with them at all times.

That way, if your teen’s phone battery dies whilst recording Swift at her piano, they can use someone else’s mobile to contact you in an emergency. Younger children who may not be able to memorise a phone number should have it on an ID bracelet for them to wear during the show.

Swap Friendship Bracelets Safely

The third rule of Taylor Swift concert safety is to follow friendship bracelet etiquette when swapping with other fans.

Inspired by a lyric from the track ‘You’re On Your Own Kid’ from Swift’s album Midnights, exchanging friendship bracelets appears to have become a permanent fixture during the worldwide Eras tour.

It’s Nice to Have a Friend, so don’t mess this up for others by being disrespectful to the venue staff or overly aggressive with your swapping. Be generous and give the ones you’ve made away without expecting anything in return, and you’re sure to have an Enchanted evening.

Shake It Off

The fourth rule of Taylor Swift concert safety is to keep moving.

We doubt this will be hard considering most Swifties dance their way through the entire set, but for those with two left feet, you’ll need to Shake It Off at regular intervals to avoid sustaining harm.

Not moving your legs for 3.5 hours can easily lead to blood pooling in your feet, ankles and calves, making you feel dizzy and lightheaded.

Equally, make sure you take a break and rest when you need to, pacing yourself and your energy throughout the concert.

Travelling To The Taylor Swift Eras Tour

The fifth rule of Taylor Swift concert safety is to have a travel plan prepared.

With sold-out venues, there’ll be thousands of people heading to the same place at the same time, so make sure you give yourself leeway to navigate this safely.

Check the venue's website and travel information in advance to work out the best way to get there. Some cities put on shuttles or have public transport to the stadium, but often your fellow Swifties will be arriving by car.

You can download our personal safety app today via the App Store or the Google Play Store.
